Write

Thoughts on writing from a poet's point of view...

For You

Pixel Poets,
The well will never go dry.
The pen will break- for sure.
But the well; we’ll never go dry.

Keep it going

This is for you.
I’m writing this for you.
For you, for you, for you,
This is all for you,
You for all, and all ways
You

Keep it going

I’m saying it cryptically
Because sometimes
That’s the best way
The only way for those

Who don’t see
Who won’t see
What we see
As we see
As we can’t
Help but see…
Well, you see.

Keep it Going

Because if this means
To you
What this means
To me
Right now
Then my right now
Is gone as far as
I can tell.
So this is for you

Keep it going

I don’t know what it is.
I know it will rule your life.
I know you will be misunderstood.
Everywhere. Except here.
I get it. I’ve got it.

Keep it going

I wonder how long has gone
Since I put this down. 2018
And almost Christmas. That
Doesn’t mean much to me
Now. It didn’t mean much
To me when then was now.
But this does.

Keep it going

Once you’ve seen
The light on things
There no longer are things
Just one thing and you’re
A part of it like everyone
Else except you see it.
I’m here seeing it,
Probably there too,
But how?

Keep it going

You’re gonna hurt hard
For this, they’ll hit
You, but that’s only
Because it’s important.
The only Important.
Too important for anyone.
But you are: Someone.

Keep it going

I wish I could sit with
You awhile and know
I’m not alone in knowing.
But I am with you now,
And you are with alone;
The alone we share alone.
Now you know alone is not
Alone: You are not alone.
I was never told directly.

Keep it going

This best life.
This only life.
Walt wrote about it.
Emily was here, too.
Ralph Waldo and Maya.
Sylvia never quite
Made it to knowing.
But you will.

Keep it going

It gets better.
Not the part
That is horrible.
No- that
Stays horrible.
You get better.
You get stronger.

You hold more.
And more will make
The empty from others
Not burst you into
Empty rooms so much.

You will march
To one empty room.
You will leave
Shame on the couch.
You will always be
Full like you are now
Reading this.

Keep it going

Don’t make excuses.
You are necessary.
Look at these words.
You read them.
You are here.
You are necessary.

Keep it going

If you were here, we
Would laugh and talk,
Maybe go for a walk,
But we would for sure,
Share the lonely
That comes listening
To light too long
To loud to listen
To listen to look

Not any of those…
All of them
-and-
All at once.

Keep it going

The poem, the heart, the voice
That won’t quiet long enough
For you to realize you’re in love
With love and love loves a poem
Of love and the love that comes
From a poet is Love’s love direct.

Heart of the Poet!
Sing Love’s imperative!

Keep! It! Going

I’m tired.
Love won’t let me be-long
Enough to be acceptable.
There’s no other life when
Love direct has come.
You don’t stand a chance,
Rejoice in the futility
Of being Love’s choice.

Rejoice and keep
Love’s love going

One day someone will need
To know what a poet is for,
One day someone will need
To know poetry is the sweet
Cruel song that never stops
Stomping the Dance of Love.

Keep it going

Stop the song,
You stop the dance.
Don’t stop that song,
Stomp that dance.

That’s Love.

Keep it going

Love Is
Insatiable in Your Hands.
Waiting on Your Whisper.
Feasting on Your Words.
Shouting Your Divine.

Keep it going

The Materials of Art

2025.10.26

Sunday, October 26, 2025

Good morning, The Wonder Fell Way.

Oh Autumn, with its slow sunrises... taking time to gather all the colors of Fall before showing.

How's your day? O/

A so much to say day in the air here.

So, let's go.

On with our show...

...

"How do you know what to write about?"
- Interested Reader Who Also Writes

There are a few ways to go about writing.

One: Have an idea, sit, and start.

Two: Sit and start. See what comes and keep going.

They both come down to listening, a certain kind of trust for your imagination and your craft.

Your craft is your imagination's means of transportation. The pun works.

Craft also grows. The more we create the more we can create. Skills advance, too.

Imagine if every time you drove your car the car itself provided a better ride.

That's the creation experience of showing up consistently to create.

Musicians know this. You have to play everyday. Practice, they call it.

The analogy blurs between practicing playing an instrument and writing in that there's a right way to play Bach, but what's the right way to write you?

You could practice writing like your favorite author, but it's disingenuous somehow.

You get good at mimicry. It's acting not writing. It's a step removed from you.

There's an aspect of knowing yourself required to make art. A familiarity with your dreams and perceptions of life is necessary to create anything sincere.

So you have to sit alone and know yourself.

Any artist in any craft devoid of a knowledge of a relationship with their dream of life can only ever be an actor at best.

So many of our screen playwrights and popular musicians fall into this category.

It's the difference between Art and Entertainment, a mocking bird and an eagle in flight.

Any Artist truly committed to Art for Art's sake is always viewed as a loner. Not because of personality quirks, but for the sake of their business.

We have to sit alone, be alone, to harness a genuine understanding of our personal experience of life so we can best express it.

We're not anti-social; we're working.

If you're consistently creating, you're not depressed. You're gathering materials to create.

Daydreaming and self-reflection are necessary skills of any true artist.

Tell your friends and loved ones you're working and go stare at the wall.

Every Artist will know where you really are: Feeding yourself with the dreams necessary to sustain your art.

It only becomes what we call Depression when we don't have a practice developed. Choose your craft. Choose many. Sing or strum, write or paint; the idea is to create for a set time everyday.

Even if it's just one chorus from one song, one sentence, or stick figure drawing at first. Something. Everyday.

Your whole life will improve. Stay consistent. Enjoy it.

To make anything requires materials. You're not depressed Artist, you're gathering dreams.

Dreams are shapeless things, spirit. We give them form through the creation of thoughts. Our thoughts become actions.

Have your actions preloaded. Pick up your instrument at the same time everyday, write, paint, draw, sing. Shape that dreamtime stored in you with your craft.

Some call it a flow state, but it's really just being prepared.

Preparations are made by daydreaming. It's part of the work Artist.

Thank you for taking the time to gather dreams and share them.

Take care and make wonderful this wonderful day.

Facing the Right Direction

2025.10.14

Tuesday, October 14, 2025

Good morning, The Wonder Fell Way.

Welcome back. O/

Not to go all guru on you, but here's a Buddhist Proverb I remembered this morning:

"When you're facing the right direction all you have to do is walk forward."

That's Wonder Fell for me, facing the right direction, sharing what I love to do and create with the world everyday.

I hope you have something similar in your life.

If it's not practical to do what you love right now, then do what you're doing with love.

Now Wynn's sounding like a guru talking in the third person about Love.

He does that sometimes. O/

On with our show...

...

To just sit in peace.

Sometimes... writers and artists don't talk about this enough, sometimes the feeling and state of being required to create art is enough.

To be still in daydreams of creation is to be pure potential. Life wants to create. So Life loves a dreamer in a state ready to create.

We work so hard to get to a place to bring fresh dreams to life; the world can be so loud, so often.

Commitment helps; it's an adjustment.

Like showing up for the sunrise everyday...

It's a pact between myself and Life.

"This is when writing happens."
-Wynn Tells Life Everyday

What was difficult, getting to a place of peace to create, Life recognizes is now just the 'right thing.' It's what happens when I wake.

Artists of every kind, it's important to develop a consistent practice. It puts Life in your corner. It makes a friend of Time.

Start a practice Artists. Make a date with yourself and keep it. Write or draw anything at all. Make sure you do. Even a single sentence or single brushstroke is fine at first.

The point is to create.

It gets consistently comfortable, but only by showing up and working.

There is magic in all artistic endeavors. But it won't be made manifest by cowards. You have to show up. The magic of creation has to have a host it trusts to be made real.

So get reliable in your practice. Be worth what you want to create. Be consistent and you will be consistently inspired.

Take care, show up for your dreams, and make wonderful this wonderful day.

One True Honest Sentence

2025.10.04

Saturday, October 04, 2025

Good morning, The Wonder Fell Way.

How's the day? O/

Glad you're here.

Peace like a mountain, strong lasting, in the air, in thoughts this morning.

What else?

There's you.

Do you keep a journal yet?

It helps.

It helps every aspect in your life.

Even if it's only a few sentences a day... start one.

Tell it everything.

Even that.

Especially that.

The 'that' you don't speak a lot about.

Grand dreams, felt petty desires, observations... whatever comes to mind.

Reread it weeks, months, years later; you'll be glad you wrote it.

There's wisdom in the exercise of reading past journal entries.

You learn a lot about yourself. You see your progression of growth.

Commit to a sentence a day, same time and place if you can. Consistency helps your dreams feel safe.

At least one true honest sentence a day.

At first tell yourself no one's going to read it. It's just to get dreams and thoughts into a tangible space.

When you keep at it for sometime you find how interesting, how unique, you are.

So long as you're honest and don't hold back what the day wants to say.

Each day says something new; there's diversity in every sunrise.

We never walk through the same river or fire twice.

The Sun sings originality.

Write your dreams, your hopes, your aspirations.

It makes them realities.

Even if it's just pixel light or ink, writing down your dreams gives them shape and mass.

A warm October day today, Summer like temperatures with an Autumn view, a trip to an Art Gallery in August, a fashion show in late June, today's weather forecast.

Take care, write down a dream or two, and make wonderful this wonderful day.

Get Moving

2025.09.21

Sunday, September 21, 2025

Good morning, The Wonder Fell Way.

Sunrise is here and so are you.

Welcome back. O/

Hope all's well.

On with our show...

...

So far just because I love to loop the letters, loop the lines.

Some mornings are like that... the joy of doing, the actual physical exercise of your Art, let that keep you going.

If you still fall under the misguided notion that writer's block, or any creative block, exists: try this out.

Remember typing, painting, singing, playing an instrument, are all physical activities.

Move! Get moving.

"But what will I sing, paint, write?"
-A Favorite Reader Who Knows They're Whining

Notes, words, brushstrokes.

Just enjoy the process of making.

"Why do you write, Wynn?"
-Reader with a Wonderful Question

Because I love to make sentences.

And we should do what we love.

I know Michelangelo loved applying paint. I know Shakespeare loved to write lyrics. I know Picasso loved what a single line on any canvas can do.

...

A noun verbs: What a sentence shows.

Life! Motion. The reflection of our experience in letters.

There is something you love to do, something simple.

What is it about any activity you love that you love about it?

Maybe it's the feel of each footfall as you walk or run, or how shaping your breath to make certain sounds forms words that cause people to feel so many different things, or what happens in your mind as you read. O/

Your whole experience is changed for a moment, or more, based on your understanding of a few scribbles or binary blips on a screen.

A love of reading becomes more and more synonymous with a love of humanity, as we move from a civilization based on the spoken word to that of textual.

The shift of humanity from a verbal to a literal species, in terms of preference of communication, is a great topic for a paper or book somewhere other than a poet's morning journal.

Maybe you'd love to write it.

Now it's sunrise and good wishes for a good day, for you.

Take care and make wonderful this wonderful day.

A Well-Used Adverb

2025.08.23

Saturday, August 23, 2025

Good morning, The Wonder Fell Way.

A consistent word prompt to start the day.

¡Olé! O/

Sitting in the sunrise, pixels on a page, the stage is set, the page is met to have a good day.

So... here we go.

On with our show...

...

Hope all's well with you today.

Business type thoughts this morning.

There's two craft modes to being a writer of any sort: The Act of Writing and The Act of Editing.

If you look at The Archaic Slabs at the end of any handwritten entry here, you'll notice I don't edit much.

Two reasons:

  • One: This is a journal and no-edits are part of the charm.
  • Two: I've been writing for a long time. The edits come preloaded while I make each sentence.

Experience of craft is in each clause.

"Because you found your writing voice, Wynn."
-Reader That's Read A Lot Their Whole Life and Also Writes

Finding one's voice as a writer is just a matter of trusting one's voice.

You're not someone else; you're you.

Why would you want to sound like someone else?

It brings insincerity to your work to try and sound like another.

The best way to establish your writing voice is not just to write, but to write comfortably.

A well-used adverb.

If I were trying to write like some other author or poet, I'd almost certainly leave out any adverbs.

Stephen King deplores adverbs; he despises semi-colons, too.

It's music, it's rhythm, it's instrumentation, it's audience.

A horror story full of semi-colons and adverbs drags along and preaches.

Adverbs are condescending in the hands of amateurs.

But they have their place.

Poe would horrifically use them.

But he was preachy, and at times condescending.

Mr. King is neither; they wouldn't fit his voice.

I'm also certain, as he's so well written and read, Stephen wouldn't begrudge Virginia Woolfe's use of her semi-colons. They fit her way, her rhythm.

When you're teaching something a gentle adverb helps.

Exclamation points, outside of quotation marks, are an author laughing at their own joke.

The voices of some authors laugh alongside their readers. O/

Some do not...

Some people are funny. O/

Some are not...

Some people are humble.

We all should be. O/

Grammar is a canvas; not a prison.

Another writing about writing entry... best to stick to what you love.

Mornings, daydreams, a hound dog, and thoughts of you, and words, words, words for reveries.

Take care, dot your eyes, cross your teas with sugar please, and make wonderful this wonderful day.

Just Write

2025.07.11

Friday, July 11, 2025

Good morning, The Wonder Fell Way.

Thank you for reading. O/

The Sun's just starting its time to show up glow up in the sky show.

Hope all's well with you.

Time for a spell or two.

Here we go.

On with our show...

...

Here's the deal: Abe on the loveseat watching the sky through drooping eyes for BOPs.

A soft grey cotton sheet covers the sky.

Firs draw the horizon line, while oaks and elms and maples and spruce make up the foreground.

Quick American some assembly required prefab homes populate the view.

"Look around and write what you see."
- Cure for a writer who still believes in writer's block
If you can write, you can write.
- Wise Stating the Obvious Owl

Writer's block doesn't exist.

Not being able to write what you want from the start does.

It's a dialogue with your dreams.

It's my experience over many years that a dream has something to say and a certain rhythm to it.

The dreams you engage with to write your Scientific Breakthrough Doctorial Thesis provide and require a different environment to best be brought to light versus dreams that want to create a YA vamp-werewolf romance novel.

Pick a quiet place, then set the ambiance by writing the ambiance.

The important thing is to work, to write.

It's a physical activity.

The right words will come, but only by writing words.

You enjoy writing so write.

What you want to write about will show up, or something more interesting will take its place.

The idea is to write.

Got a deadline?

Write that you do and keep writing.

What you want to write will show when you make a comfortable place for it and set the parameters.

While writing.

Another entry on writing; we write about what we love best.

The bowtie wearing dog on the loveseat, the sunrise, your good day.

Magic, Hope, and better ways for better days for us all (those are in different spaces, otw places).

Take care, if you want to write just write, and make wonderful this wonderful day.

Another Kind of Music

2025.06.30

Monday, June 30, 2025

Good morning, The Wonder Fell Way.

Hey. O/

Glad you're back.

Hope your day is going well.

Here we go.

On with our show...

...

Another morning with Dapper Abe and +he Ghos+.

Talk to the wall and take notes... sometimes the work feels that way.

But it's not a wall; it's this dream you're shaping.

When you can get it to look a certain way, sound a certain way, make a certain rhythm in a reader's mind, you can call it a job well done.

It's music; a writer's voice sings each sentence with the intonation of spirit.

You hear me while you read.

Only a strange idea until it's beautiful.

There's a another kind of music notes never know.

It sounds in your head as you read, as you remember that song you haven't thought of in years, or read your favorite writer.

I wonder how this sounds to you: O/

A circle. A slash. A wave.

Hopefully it's an, "Oh good, there's Wynn waving to us. It's not a party till he shows up... a Let's get this party started type wave.

Or just a signal that someone living and breathing like you puts down their words for you to remind you that you're not alone in life or in dreams.

We share the space.

We bring up dreams and science rolls its incompetent eyes.

I measure my dreams and call the measure my words.

You're reading some now.

Spirit is the texture of the music in your mind as you dream, as you read.

And spirit, that driving force of creation, moves us forward, dances so we may dance our dreams.

There's nothing esoteric here, just new words for ancient knowings.

You gotta dream it before you can do it.

Every brilliant mathematical theorem shown to every class begins with the professor's dream to pick up the chalk and write it on the blackboard.

A dream is always a necessity.

Take care of yours, make them beautiful before you start to make them, and make wonderful this wonderful day.
